The hackers, those beings whose skill goes beyond understanding about networking and computers, are characters who have always wanted to know.
Those dark heroes who belong to a world apart with a very particular attitude and philosophy, are ideal for cinema.
That is why it is not surprising that for several years, the world of hacking, its implications, risks, and challenges have served to build the script for many movies or television series.
Some are unforgettable, others are totally expendable, but here we bring a selection of what experts consider the best.
1.-Snowden. The movie. 2016
It is recent history, and many know it. In June 2013, Edward Snowden, a technology consultant and former employee of the NSA (National Security Agency), released classified documents through the international press, including mass surveillance programs.
It is the plot that composes this Oliver Stone movie, produced in 2016, where the work very similar to that of a hacker that Snowden made and that generated so much controversy at the time is shown in detail.
2.-No system is safe
Represents a young man who is invisible to society from a young age, he was in love with a young woman who asked him for the favor to hack the university system to have the exam questions but was caught and from there began his true story in the world of computer security knowing certain characters that would involve you more.
3.-Tron
It is said that Kevin Flynn, Tron’s main character, is possibly one of the first hackers that viewers saw in the cinema.
In this 1982 film starring Jeff Bridges, we discover a whole world of competition and destruction within computers.
But what has turned it into a cult film is that it was one of the first cinematographic productions where graphic computing was used as an essential element of the story.
4.-Hackers. Hackers.
This 1995 action film tells the adventures of a group of hackers to incorporate extortion, in the particular environment of the cyberpunk subculture.
Starring Angelina Jolie, among others, this film delves into the details of a business scam of such large dimensions that an investigation by the FBI merits.
5-The Matrix
It marked a crucial stage in science fiction films and today is recognized as one of the most innovative works of world cinema.
This 1999 production, whose visual effects are already a classic, tells the story of Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves), a young man who by day is a computer programmer and at night is a hacker called «Neo.»
Matrix was awarded four Oscar awards: Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
6.-Blackhat: Threat on the Net
This 2015 film talks about a computer threat that could end the lives of thousands of people.
In this context, the governments of the United States and China must cooperate in neutralizing the danger.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, history shows us the persecution of a fearsome hacker.
7.-Sneakers: The Snoopers
Another film that was ahead of its time and in whose script the same authors of War Games worked.
This 1992 film tells the story of a group of computer experts who are forced to steal an artifact that is capable of decoding any encrypted security system.
It has a luxury cast headed by Robert Redford, Ben Kingsley, and Sidney Poitier, among others.
8.-War Games
One of the oldest and evaluated by many hackers as his point of inspiration to start in the trade is War Games. This film starring Matthew Broderick was produced in 1983 and is considered a jewel of the genre.
Here, a young man of just 17 years places the world on the verge of a nuclear confrontation when he accesses the Pentagon computer system.
Screenwriters Lawrence Lasker and Walter F. Parkes were located in the last years of the Cold War, during which time a hacker infiltrates US government security systems. She was nominated for an Oscar for her original screenplay.
Series: Mr. Robot
It is worthwhile to include in this review, a television series that boldly and accurately portrays the world of hackers: Mr. Robot.
In this program, we meet a young hacker with mental disorders who are recruited by Mr. Robot, a strange character who is the leader of a group called society, whose goal is to ruin multinational companies.
Mr. Robot premiered in 2015 and is already approaching its fourth season. She stars Rami Malek, and Christian Slater and critics praise her as one of the best thriller cyber-thrillers in recent years.
These are seven films and a series made at different times with exciting stories that portray the mysterious life and work of hackers, characters that will still give much to talk in the coming years and, surely, will be the subject of more interesting films.
